Mechanism of Action

Plant polyphenols from European blueberry extract scavenge free radicals (DPPH) and inhibit MMP-1 enzyme activity. This reduces degradation of collagen by matrix metalloproteinases, prevents release of collagen degradation fragments, and preserves the structural integrity of Type I and III collagen.
